The seven Maine Coon kittens are six months old th The seven Maine Coon kittens are six months old this weekend. If you’re not a cat person, scroll on by. If you are, what a marvellous litter they are! It’s Father’s Day and the Big Daddy, Hades, is the last photo. He weighs a whopping 10.5kg.

All the owners have shared up-to-date pictures. They’re all huge and do the things that makes Maine Coons are ‘supposed’ to do and more. No wonder they’re such a popular breed.

Big thanks to Caroline Hubbard Jodie Lown Kath Black and Charlie Alexander-Blows for staying in touch and providing pics of them as they grow.

Greetings from Hove! Don’t let the relaxed demea Greetings from Hove!
Don’t let the relaxed demeanour deceive you - life is pretty chaotic at this end.

It’s now 10 weeks since I had a Full Knee Replacement. I had my post-surgery appraisal a month ago and have also rejoined the fitness club where I’ve been a member since 2011. I’m not in pain. That is transformative! Since the e-scooter crash last July, I’ve been in pain. Sometimes worse than others, but pain management has been a major issue.

All the pins are a-goner.
I’ve now a new knee. For the last month I’ve not taken any painkillers. I’m still taking meds – mood stabilizers, pills to control my blood pressure and more, but I’m 62 and who knows what state I would be in without them. I am not psychotic or suicidal so am very much of a mind not to rock the medicinal boat by downing addictive opioids along with my morning coffee.

Bendy brain
Yesterday I used a machine at the gym which measured my flexibility. I’m hyper-mobile so overly bendy (something, interestingly, which is linked to anxiety - hyper-mobility means you are seven times more likely to be anxious, but that’s another story explored in the book, Making Friends with Anxiety), and I’ve got a lot of flexibility back. Scar tissue means my knee is numb so feels HUGE, in the way one’s lip feels ginormous after a dental anaesthetic, and my ability to kneel back is limited and uncomfortable, but it’s bye-bye wheelchair! It’s been an education being at belly-button level socially – Christmas parties, a birthday and two funerals – all had to be done differently, so it is with gratitude I returned several pairs of crutches and the chair to the physio this weekend.

Inevitably our income has been hit. It’s one reason we are letting our house in Brighton. We’ve a deadline though as tenants move into Howard Terrace in a week. EEK!
